Lisa provides assessment, intervention, and consulting services for families and schools of children with Asperger syndrome, PDD-NOS, high-functioning autism (HFA), nonverbal learning disabilities (NLD), and similar challenges in "social cognition."
Lisa has a Master's Degree in Special Education for Autism and Asperger Syndrome from the University of Kansas, as well as graduate training in clinical psychology from Virginia Tech. In addition, she has completed numerous continuing education workshops with nationally and internationally known ASD experts, including Tony Attwood, Brenda Smith Myles, Carol Gray, Carol Kranowitz, and others.
Formerly a successful publishing executive and an award-winning health journalist, Lisa made a mid-life career change after her son was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. Her Washington Post article “Lessons from the Little Professor," which documented her frustrating journey to find an explanation for her little boy’s unusual behaviors, has been reprinted around the world, and is still handed out by many clinicians as a way of introducing parents to Asperger Syndrome.
Today, Lisa is the mother of an awesome adolescent son with Asperger Syndrome. She knows first-hand the stress and frustration involved in parenting a child on the autism spectrum. But she's also been fortunate enough to see the tremendous difference that appropriate intervention can make.

Lisa's book More Than Little Professors features stories, essays, poems and quotes from more than 60 children and teens with Asperger Syndrome.
